This was the time of the year when they ran blackwater. Almost 25 years ago.

Some random thoughts because its slow at work right now.

With the fond memories we all hold of the Blackwater 100 race and how it has been an enduring "Good" memory for most that ran it, why don't we have a similar type race? I've heard of 1 that tried to emulate this race last year/early this year, but I was not able to attend.

One that has a better than 50% attrition rate. One that focuses on rider skill and not how fast the quad is. One that will make lasting memories that if you weren't there probably wouldn't understand. one that people will talk about for a long time after the checkered flag waves.

Timing would be critical. No one wants to hurt a quad/bike they need for a series race.

My thought is you use a secondary quad because you know its going to take a beating. You prepare yourself for getting stuck, you carry a few spare parts, you focus on survival vs. speed.

Some would shy away and say that their equipment is too expensive, but others (myself included) would bring a less expensive quad and try my skill against a course that is supposed to be impassable.

A race that is seriously hard, but not so serious about the competitive side. Hard Enduros draw a lot of guys that know they are going to tear up some stuff and not win, but they want to try their skill against hard terrain.

I am a lot better at technical riding than I am a fast rider (Being fast IMO is the most important skill needed to be competitive in GNCC) So this kind of racing intrigues me.

From what I hear the snowshoe race is pretty tough.
