Default Hiper/DWT/Goldspeed Wheels Discussion

What wheels are everyone using? What's the best price? Pros/Cons? I had Hiper in the past and was always having issues with them leaking/ and the threads for the inserts starting to pull through. I am currently running DWT, and haven't had a problem yet, but would like to eventually get dual beadlock. I seen Fowler/ Johnny G switched to Goldspeed, but not sure which wheels they are running exactly or how good they actually are. Just wondering what your guy's opinions are on the best, and what the cheapest you can get a full set for. Thanks!

The new Goldspeeds seem to have the latest push right now. I have no input on them other than that they are doing a big marketing push right now and putting them on a lot of people's quads. Time will tell I guess? I never ran the Hipers for the same exact reasons you stated. I had several friends who ran them that always had the same problems you are stating. I did however always run DWT's and never had a single problem out of them. Had two different sets over 4yrs with not a single issue. DWT does sell a dual rear beadlock too just fyi. If I was gonna build up another race quad I would for sure use DWT and at least see what Goldspeed has to offer.

I never had the leaking problem on the hipers, did have the insert problem but after starting to use anti seize and torqueing them right had no more problems with the inserts. Major plus to me on the hiper was they don't bend like alum.

I currently have a set of DWT Dual Lock on the rear and they are good. That being said I've bent a set of them in the past, but I've also stripped out hipers. I have had issues with stripping out the inserts for DWT's as well though. So they each have their own perks. Hipers have been having trouble keeping people in stock last I heard.

I have three sets of hipers. My original set is 10 years old and the only thing I've done is replace the rings a couple times. I've never stripped a bolt, never had any trouble. (I use anti-seize and am careful when it comes to torquing them) I have had to get a new half on one of my other sets, and seen spun inserts and had to lube up an o ring to get a friends wheel to quit leaking, but I still feel like they're good wheels if you're not using a 1/2 impact on the rings. That being said, I saw a set of Goldspeed beadlocks the other day and was pretty impressed with how light and good they looked.

Bump. What are people's thoughts on Goldspeed wheels in comparison to the rest? Looking to get a set of new wheels, still not torn on which direction I want to go.

I'd would look into the off set before buying the goldspeed's. they appear to have a positive scrub radius.

I have had all three brands No complaints out of any but Goldspeed's added 3/4" over the DWTS and 1 1/4"over the Hiper's.Their very stong wheels but their offsets are measured a little bit differently than the other brands

Isn't positive scrub radius good for a XC quad? Suspension design and how it actually works is crazy complicated and I am in awe when someone understands it. I appreciate hearing from folks that know what they are talking about and hope that I pick up a tid bit every now and then. Talking to a late model dirt track guy I know about suspension was like attending a Harvard Law course. Way above my skill level.

For anyone wanting to geek out a little on ATV suspension design.

Talks about:
Spring Rate formulas
Progressive Air Spring Curves
Elastokinematic (whatever the heck that is), etc...
