DIRECTV is dropping Versus

DirecTV is negotiating with Versus today, and it doesn't look good! If they don't reach an agreement today D-TV customers won't be able to watch Racer TV (GNCC Coverage). Today could be the last day that Versus is shown on Directv.

I am a DirecTV customer too and this sucks!! But I think the company behind Vs. may be more to blame. I went through this crap when I was with Dish Network a few years ago when this channel (OLN) at the time was taken off of Dish. I switched then but I have a year left on contract with Direct. I'm calling to see what's up.

I've got until April on my contract with DirecTV too. But I'm just going to bite the bullet and switch to another carrier if they drop Versus.

DTV says it's because Versus is going up on their fee, and DTV doesn't want to go up on their rates to cover the increase. I can see both sides. But I don't want to miss out on seeing my GNCC coverage.

Hopefully this will get resolved. But it doesn't look promising at this point...

If you're a Directv customer that likes Versus, make sure to voice your opinion!

If they drop VS they will be losing a customer. I can't go without GNCC coverage and most definitely can't go without Tour coverage (what they hell else is there to watch mid-summer?)

OLN/VS has done this before, and they are pricing thier own self out of the market, if I were the NHL or IRL i would be pissed. VS doesnt get into alot of households anyway and this wont help. hopefully they will fold and a new company will take over that doesnt think so much of thierself

Versus improved the programs/coverage they run. Don't you think that's worth something??

If it wasn't for Versus you wouldn't have any GNCC coverage. And they're running the Racer TV eppisodes a couple of weeks after the actual races now!! Don't you want our sport to grow??

Direct TV is a bunch of scum bags. I have no doubt it's because of some greedy crap they are trying to pull off knowing rural America watches allot of OLN & Versus.

It's not the carrier, it's the provider that screws with the pricing.
All major networks set the pricing for "allowing" the carriers to provide for the customer, which is a **** rolls down hill theory. NHL,PBR,Indy Racing League....all new additions to the Versus line up which makes them think they're worth much more. Taken from a Directv pree release...
"Versus is asking for terms which do not reflect the market and which they are not asking of all other distributors. DIRECTV wants to keep your monthly fees low, so it's doing everything it can to avoid paying exorbitant programming fees."
